States are doing their bit to be alert against terrorism. The authorities at Vadodara's M S University have decided to set up special screening teams after one of its students was found to be part of a terror module.
Professor Ramesh Goyal is a worried man. Being the Vice-Chancellor of M S University, he is still to come to terms with the news that a student of this prestigious institution is accused in the Ahmedabad serial blasts.
The man in question is Usman Agarbartwala who secured a diploma in human rights.
"We have taken this incident very seriously. There is a suspected terrorist who studied here and we fear that more could be involved. For this we are trying to evolve a check mechanism to screen students at the time of admissions," he said.
Candidates will be screened thoroughly during admission and anyone behaving suspiciously on campus will also come under the scanner.
It's a tall order as there are 15,000 students on the university's rolls.
"As a student of the MSU we will cooperate. We don't mind," Mustak Ishak, one of the students said.
"There is a need for verification as lots of students come from outside. It's a good step," another student Siraj Kadiwala said.
It's a university that's flirted with controversy before, but for the first time terror has cast its ugly shadow.
